Scotty Nguyen Wins Fifth WSOP Bracelet

Scotty Nguyen has won the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E Event #45, one of the most prestigious events of the World Series of Poker. With the massive buy-in attracting 148 entrants to the event including a plethora of poker pro’s, it was Nguyen who succeeded to win his fifth golden bracelet after a thirteen hour final table. As winner he takes with him just under $2 million in prize money.
At the start of the final table a host of well known were still vying for the coveted bracelet. Out in front on his own was WSOP Event #4 winner Erick Lindgren, with three-time bracelet winner Barry Greenstein and Scotty Nguyen in hot pursuit:

First out was Patrick Bueno losing out to Erick Lindgren, followed by four-time bracelet winner Huck Seed’s elimination at the hands of Michael DeMichele. Barry Greenstein then missed out on his potential fourth bracelet, Nguyen’s triple sevens doing the damage.
Three-time bracelet winner Lyle Berman’s chips steadily got lower and lower until ultimately DeMichele took him down to leave just four players remaining. Matt Glanzt then ran into Nguyen’s flush, before Erick Lindgren was finally eliminated in 3rd place to Nguyen’s higher pair.
Scotty Nguyen held a 4:1 chip lead over Michael DeMichele at the beginning of heads-up play as the night wore on. Inevitably there was to be no comeback from DeMichele and Scotty Nguyen took the winning hand and the WSOP title. DeMichele at least consoled himself with $1.2 million as a runner-up prize.
