Rob Hollink Takes the $10,000 Limit Hold’em World Championship Event 30
June 18th, 2008
Dutchman Rob Hollink has claimed victory in the $10,000 Limit Hold’em World Championship after finally defeating Jerrod Ankenman in heads-up play. It is Rob Hollink’s first ever WSOP title and biggest win since he won the European Poker Tour Monte Carlo Grand Final back in 2005.
The start of the event saw 218 players hit the tables but only nine made it through to the final table, including Andy Bloch, and J.C. Tran.
Chris Vitch was the first to give up his seat at the table falling to Aaron Katz’s pair of eights, while Cy Jassinowsky was soon eliminated by Tommy Hang’s pocket queens. Next to go was Andy Bloch, Hollink’s pair of eights enough to give him the hand.
Jerrod Ankenman’s ace then saw off Brock Parker before Hollink got rid of J.C. Tran to leave just four players at the final table. Ankenman soon eliminated Aaron Katz with queen high to leave just three to play. Tommy Hang then got himself all-in, but found Hollink’s pair of queens to be too much. This left heads-up between Hollink and Ankenman.
At the end of the day’s play though it was Rob Hollink who clinched the title with two pair of aces and fives. He takes with him $496,931 and his first WSOP bracelet.
Final Standings:
Rob Hollink - $496,931
