Poker Professionals To Host Kentucky Derby Celebrity Charity Poker Event

Poker professionals Phil Hellmuth and Robert Williamson are to host a celebrity charity poker event raising awareness for the world’s changing climate, following the 134th Kentucky Derby on May 3rd 2008.
The $2,500 buy-in event at Caesars Indiana will include a host of celebrities including Montel Williams, Layne Flack and Kevin O’Donnell who will join hosts Hellmuth and Williamson in support of the charities work.
A red carpet reception will begin at 7pm, with the $2,500 poker tournament kicking off at 8:30pm. Players will start with $5,000 in chips with $2,500 re-buys for additional chips available for $1,000 until the second round. After that an add-on for $1,000 will be offered for a further $2,500 in chips.
The first place prize is a $10,000 seat at the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event. Runner up will receive a prize package valued at $8,500, including entry into the 2008 Aruba Poker Classic tournament in September. Of the total prize pool 47% will be donated to the charities, with 3% going to staff involved in the tournament.
"I’m really excited to be co-hosting this event with Robert Williamson III and to support such an important cause," said Phil Hellmuth. "The climate is changing and the poor will be the hardest hit. Anything we can do to raise awareness of this issue and help save lives is important."
The Kentucky Derby Poker Championship: All In For Climate Change will take place raising money for the international Red Cross/ Red Crescent Climate Centre, which focuses on saving lives of vulnerable communities increasingly affected by floods and droughts, the Health and Climate Foundation, which focuses on eradicating epidemics of malaria and other diseases around the world, and the Robby Albarado Foundation, a non-profit organization established to assist homeless and socially or economically disadvantaged and less fortunate individuals.
