Nancy Todd Tyner Wins WPT Ladies Championship

At the WPT Ladies Championship in Las Vegas last Friday night, Nancy Todd Tyner fought off 5 other poker professionals for the inaugural 2008 WPT Ladies Championship title and the just under $70,000 first place prize.
At the start of the final table, chip stacks were as follows:
Vanessa Selbst - 182,200
Nancy Todd Tyner - 107,400
Donna Varlotto - 68,600
Van Nguyen - 42,300
Janice Kim - 32,900
Cindy Kerslake - 16,400
First to be knocked out was Van Nguyen, the first women to win a WPT event at the recent WPT Celebrity Invitational event, followed by Donna Varlotto. Next to be eliminated was Janice Kim, followed by Cindy Kerslake, to leave heads-up play between Nancy Todd Tyner and Vanessa Selbst.
In the end it was Nancy Todd Tyner, who had qualified for the event through a ladies-only satellite at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, who won the title and could proudly proclaim herself 2008 WPT Ladies Champion. Clad in a collection of impressive jewellery throughout the tournament, Nancy Todd Tyner had apparently twice previously participated in the WPT Boot Camp under the watchful tutelage of WPT host and ‘Ambassador of Poker’ Mike Sexton.
