Matt Keikoan Takes First WSOP Bracelet in Event 7
June 7th, 2008
At his very first WSOP final table and with only two previous WSOP cashes, Matt Keikoan has won Event 7 of the 2008 World Series of Poker. With victory over a total field of 1,592 players at the $2,000 No Limit Hold’em event, his reward is $550,529, as well as the coveted golden WSOP bracelet.
At the start of the final table the chip stacks were as follows:
Theo Tran - 1,884,000
Mihai Manole - 1,020,000
Matt Keikoan - 1,011,000
Carter Gill - 652,000
Shannon Shorr - 620,000
Mike Lisanti - 358,000
Alex Bolotin - 345,000
J.C Tran - 273,000
Chris Bjorin - 205,000
Mike Lisanti was the first player to be eliminated from the final table, his A K combo not enough against Keikoan’s pocket kings. Alex Bolotin was next to go, his pair of nines failing against Theo Tran’s two pair of aces and jacks.
Next out was J.C Tran, followed by Chris Bjorin and Mihai Manole to leave only four players standing. Theo Tran fell short finishing in 4th place in his second final table of this year’s WSOP, while Carter Gill was next out to leave heads-up play between Keikoan and Shannon Shorr.
Keikoan had a big chip lead at the start of heads-up and held onto it to finally win his first ever WSOP event with a full house to Shorr’s two pair. Keikouan walks away with $550,601 as champion.
Final Standings:
Matt Keikouan - $550,601
Shannon Shorr - $349,141
Carter Gill - $228,897
Theo Tran - $191,231
Chris Bjorin - $155,013
Mihai Manole - $123,141
J.C. Tran - $94,166
