Martin Klaser Wins First WSOP Bracelet
June 27th, 2008
Martin Klaser has won his first WSOP bracelet with victory in the $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 or Better Event #43. His win came over a total field of 720 and earns him $216,249 in prize money.
The start of the final table saw Jon Maren with the chip lead ahead of Erik Seidel, seeking his ninth WSOP bracelet:
Seat 1 - Joseph Haddad - 135,000
Seat 2 - Tom Chambers - 263,000
Seat 3 - Larry Wright - 117,000
Seat 4 - Chad Burum - 117,000
Seat 5 - Michael Fetter - 288,000
Seat 6 - Casey Kastle - 188,000
Seat 7 - Jon Maren - 377,000
Seat 8 - Martine Klaser - 337,000
Seat 9 - Erik Seidel - 340,000
Tom Chambers was the first players to leave the final table, his triple aces running into Casey Kastle’s diamond flush. Next out was Larry Wright falling to another Kastle flush, before Joseph Haddad fell to Martin Klaser’s flopped straight.
Chad Burum was then eliminated by Klaser, followed by Jon Maren at the hands of Casey Kastle. Erik Seidel’s quest for a ninth bracelet soon ended, Kastle again doing the damage with a full house of kings on queens. With only three players left standing Michael Fetter came up short against Klaser’s triple sevens to leave heads-up play between Klaser and Kastle.
Both players had accounted for the seven eliminations at the final table but Martin Klaser held a big chip lead and went on to win 16 of 19 hands to win the title. His full house of queens on jacks was the winning hand finally seeing off Casey Kastle, who takes home $137,985 for his troubles.
Final Standings:
Martin Klaser - $216,249
Casey Kastle - $137,985
Michael Fetter - $83,538

Jon Maren - $56,019
