Layne Flack Wins Sixth WSOP Bracelet
June 21st, 2008
Layne Flack has claimed his sixth WSOP bracelet with victory at the $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha w/Rebuys Event #34. It is the first bracelet he has won in 5 years and with it, he takes home $577,725 in prize money.
A total of 320 players had taken part in the event with only nine players making it to the final table. Kyle Kloeckner had the chip lead at the start of play:
Seat 1 - Frank Vizza - 378,000
Seat 2 - Dario Alioto - 659,000
Seat 3 - Tim West - 187,000
Seat 4 - Daniel Makowsky - 493,000
Seat 5 - Kyle Kloeckner - 845,000
Seat 6 - Jacobo Fernandez - 348,000
Seat 7 - Layne Flack - 601,000
Seat 8 - Michael Guzzardi - 751,000
Seat 9 - Ted Forrest - 757,000
Frank Vizza was the first to be eliminated despite a flopped flush, with Dario Alioto also flopping a flush and winning the hand on his jack high. Alioto then accounted for Tim West, his triple tens doing the damage this time. Michael Guzzardi was then all-in against Layne Flack with a straight, only to see a flush give Flack the hand.
Kyle Kloeckner, runner-up in Event #24, then fell to Flack’s higher full house before five-time WSOP bracelet winner Ted Forrest came up short against Daniel Makowsky. With only four players left in the event, it was Dario Alioto to go out next, soon followed by Jacobo Fernandez, who has four cashes in this year’s series already, to leave heads-up play between Flack and Makowsky.
Flack held a massive chip lead going into heads-up play and never looked like giving it up. After a few hands Flack put Makowsky all-in with a king on the river sealing Makowsky’s fate. Flack took the title with triple kings for his sixth WSOP bracelet.
