Joe Commisso has won the biggest pot of this year’s World Series of Poker so far with victory in the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em/Six Handed Event #46. After winning a six hour heads-up battle with Richard Lyndaker, Joe Commisso took home $911,855 from a total prize pool of over $3.7 million.
At the start of the final table’s play Richard Lyndaker held the chip lead from Joe Commisso and Tom Lutz:
Seat 1 - Sam Trickett - 1,000,450
Seat 2 - Davidi Kitai - 298,000
Seat 3 - Joe Commisso - 1,961,000
Seat 4 - Richard Lyndaker - 2,345,000
Seta 5 - Thomas Lutz - 1,493,000
Seat 6 - Edward Ochana - 928,000
First to be eliminated was Davidi Kitai, winner of this year’s WSOP Event #38, his pocket tens were behind Richard Lyndaker’s pocket kings and never caught up. Tom Lutz was next to go, Lyndaker again the player doing the damage with pocket nines hitting another nine on the flop to send Lutz home.
Sam Trickett was out in 4th place with his pocket kings falling to Edward Ochana’s triple sixes. Ochana himself then ran into Lyndaker’s jack high straight to leave heads-up play between Lyndaker and Commisso.
Commisso had the chip lead when heads-up play began and six hours later after swapping the lead a few times, it was he who would get Lyndaker all-in. Finally it was Commisso who would win it with two pairs of queens and tens, slightly edging out Lyndaker’s tens and sevens. Joe Commisso finishes on top of 805 total entrants and takes home just under $1 million in prize money.
