Vega Promotional Systems has announced that the renamed Poker Tour of the Americas (previously Latin American Poker Tour) will be expanding the tour to include cities in North America.

Following increased interest from cities all over America, the new tour will include venues in the US and Canada, on top of planned venues in several Latin America countries, including Puerto Rico, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica.

The inaugural season, planned to be televised, will end with a Tournament of Champions event that will decide the Champion of the Poker Tour of the Americas.

All tournaments will be invitational events with players from all over the world able to qualify online and via live local satellite tournaments.

Michael Herron, CEO of Vega said: “The response we have received from all over North and South America has been incredible. We contemplated launching a second Tour for North America, but decided to combine the two and make the PTA one of the largest poker tours in the world.”

“By expanding the Tour’s reach, we will be able to capitalize on our contacts in the United States and Canada and build a very strong tour that will attract players from all over the world,” he said.
