Later this month the World Poker Tour Ladies season concludes with the inaugural WPT Ladies Championship at The Bellagio, Las Vegas.

The $1,500 buy-in event, part of the televised WPT Season VI, is expected to attract hundreds of amateurs and professional poker players from all over the world.

Robyn Moder, Executive Vice President, WPT Studios said: “The goal of this league is to provide opportunities for female players to step up their game, and that mission has been validated through the amazing turnout and feedback we’ve received during our first four stops.”

“Almost 800 women have competed so far—and for many of them, it was their first live tournament. With so much excitement and support behind the league, we look forward to hosting the first WPT Ladies Championship with our long-time partners at Bellagio,” she added.

The WPT Ladies Championship kicks off on April 13th 2008 at noon, preceded by a champagne brunch a The Bank Nightclub. WPT and Bellagio will roll out the pink carpet for registered players to the main event, with brunch and champagne supplied by event sponsor Veuve Cliquot.

Following the brunch, Day 1 of the tournament will begin, with those players remaining at the end of the day returning on April 14th to play down to the final six. The final six players will then head to the WPT final table set on April 25th to battle it out in front of WPT cameras for the chance to win a WPT title and the first place cash prize.

Players will also have the opportunity to donate and bid in an online auction at CharityFolks.com with proceeds going to the WPT Ladies official charity and long-time partner, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to end breast cancer forever. 15% of each of the $1,500 buy-ins for the Championship event will be donated to the charity.

Katrina McGhee, Vice President of Marketing at Komen for the Cure said: “Our partnership with WPT Ladies is one example of Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s creative opportunities for all people to be a part of the breast cancer movement.”

“The online auction is a great example of how anyone can support the promise to end breast cancer and add hope to many women’s lives,” she said.

Registration for the tournament is on-site only, beginning on April 12th 2008. The Bellagio will also begin $350 satellites into the WPT Ladies Championship on April 12th 2008 at 1pm, running through till April 13th.
