European Poker Tour Copenhagen Update

The start of the EPT Scandinavian Open in Copenhagen saw 460 players create a prize pool of over $4million with Day1a of the event seeing 230 players take to the tables for a shot at an expected minimum €800,000 first prize.
Big name poker players included Annette Obrestad, Thor Hansen, Jonas Danielsson and Gus Hansen, all recent award winners at the Scandinavian Poker Awards, as well as Daniel Negreanu, EPT Caribbean Adventure winner Bertrand Grospellier and EPT Barcelona champion Sander Lylloff.
At the end of play on Day1a, however, only 82 players were left to go through to the second day. Obrestad was an early casualty with Negreanu, Gus Hansen, Lylloff and Grospellier all knocked out by the end of the day.
Day 1b saw another 230 players enter the fray, amongst them EPT Dortmund champion Michael McDonald, EPT Prague champion Arnaud Mattern, as well as WSOP bracelet winner Katja Thater. 88 players survived the day to go through to the next round and join the 82 players from the previous day’s play.

There were 170 players at the start of Day 2 play but the eliminations came thick and fast to leave just 39 players by the end. Notable players knocked out at this stage included Jonas Danielsson, Thor Hansen and Arnaud Mattern.
At the end of play it was Rasmus Nielsen who had the chip stack lead over Joris Jaspers and Johan Lund.
