April 11th, 2008
Tomorrow sees the start of the final event of the European Poker Tour season, the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final. The €10,000 main event, capped at 1,000 players, will take place at the renowned Monte Carlo Casino and runs until April 17th.
Monte Carlo is situated in the sovereign state of Monaco and is now one of the most densely populated countries in the world. Monaco lies on the northern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, completely surrounded by France.
The Monte Carlo Casino was built by Charles Garnier during the reign of Charles III, utilizing the classic Baroque style popular in the 19th Century. Last year’s event saw a total of 706 poker players take part creating a prize pool of over €6.6 million, with American Gavin Griffin coming out on top to take home nearly €2 million in prize money.
