eCOGRA and GamCare Offer Expertise to Industry

By News Provider
March 27th, 2008

eCOGRA says it joined forces with GamCare to provide expertise to industry executives on the principles of responsible gambling and the handling of problem gamblers.

The 2 day training course given to online casino managers in London last week included members of the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) and covered all aspects of responsible gambling standards and principles, as established by eCOGRA’s “Safe and Fair” seal.

The eCOGRA standards provide minimum requirements in respect of warnings and options regarding problem gambling, self exclusion and control mechanisms for gamblers, as well as promotional and advertising best practises.

GamCare, a registered charity that provides counselling and advice on the social impact of gambling in the UK, conducted much of the training.  Topics covered included tuition on the prevention of underage gambling, the psychology of problem gamblers, and how to identify and handle compulsive players.

eCOGRA oversees the online gambling activities of some 106 tier one online casinos and poker rooms and offers a dispute resolution service to players at those sites which have been awarded eCOGRA’s “Safe and Fair” seal.
