Final Table Set for Event 8 of 2008 WSOP

Following a gruelling second day’s play, event 8 of the 2008 WSOP has finally been whittled down to its last remaining eight players for tomorrow’s final table. The $10,000 World Championship Mixed Event attracted 192 players creating a total prize pool of $1.8 million. This is a brand new event for the WSOP.
After Day 1’s play, 2007 WSOP Player of the Year Tom Schneider had a healthy chip lead over Gus Hansen, with only 89 players in total making it through the day. Notable eliminations included Phil Hellmuth, Mike Matusow, Jeffrey Lisandro, Kenny Tran, and Ted Forrest.
Heading into Day 2 the 89 remaining players from Day 1 were back at the tables for more poker action targeting a place on tomorrow’s final table. Those that wouldn’t make it that far included Barry Greenstein, Erik Seidel, Todd Brunson, Greg Raymer, Phil Ivey, Woody Deck, Katja Thater, Andy Bloch, Greg Mueller and Johnny Chan.
Finally after a long day’s play, the final table was set. With the chip lead is Matt Glantz, far ahead of James Mackey and online poker star Tom Dwan.
