Final Table Set For Event 5 of the 2008 WSOP

The final table has been set for the fifth event of this year’s WSOP, the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em w/Rebuys event. The 766 players entered on Day 1 have now been whittled down to nine players who will all have hopes of getting their hands on the acclaimed golden WSOP bracelet.
At the start of Day 2 the chip lead was held by Phil Ivey, closely followed by Amit Makhija who already has a final table appearance at this year’s WSOP finishing 5th in Event 1.
With only nine players to make it to the final table, a host of poker pro’s were sent crashing out of the event, including Phil Hellmuth, chip leader Phil Ivey, Sorel Mizzi, Chad Brown, Nam Le, and Phil Nguyen.
The $2.89 million prize pool means a $636,736 prize for a first place finish. Top of the pile going into the final table’s play is Michael Banducci with Alan Jaffray in close pursuit.
