The first Omaha event so far in this year’s WSOP has set its final table for tomorrow after an arduous and lengthy day’s play. As morning light began seeping into the Las Vegas casino, play was finally concluded as the last remaining nine players were finally decided and the surviving players could retire to their beds in preparation for the final table later today.

The $1,500 Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 or Better event had seen a huge turnout of 833 entrants on day 1 yesterday, with 205 returning to the tables for Day 2’s play. James Van Alstyne held the chip lead from Richard Ashby and Ben Tang at the start of play.

Those not making it though the day included Paul Wolfe, Robert Mizrachi, Perry Friedman, Allen Kessler, Michael Spiegel and Linda Johnson.

Play continued into the night with tournament organisers taking a vote on whether to continue play until a final table had been decided. The majority of players voted to play on. Late eliminations included those of Ben Johnson, John Lukas, Wayne Kepfer and finally Mark Gregorich early this morning.
