The European Poker Tour returns to action later this year with eight events in the Season 5 schedule, culminating in the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo commencing April 28th 2009.

Missing from this year’s schedule is the EPT Dublin event, won last year by Reuben Peters, and the EPT Caribbean Adventure, won by Bertrand Grospellier. More events could yet be added to the schedule however.

John Duthie, Chief Executive of the European Poker said: "The new EPT season includes all the events which have made the past four seasons such a triumph with record fields across Europe and record prize pools. We have set very high standards and aim to improve on this still further in Season 5."

"This year’s EPT kicks off in the magnificent city of Barcelona at the beginning of September. The tour will take in nine countries including the return of the ever popular Deauville event in France and we are expecting to add new venues to the tour," he continued.

Last year’s EPT proved to be hugely successful, generating a total prize pool of almost €40 million, with 5,902 players taking part in the events and the biggest single prize pool ever generated outside Las Vegas at the Monte Carlo Grand Final, won by Canadian Glen Chorny.

"We anticipate the EPT making an even bigger impact in Season 5, attracting more players from all around the world and even larger prize pools," Mr. Duthie added.

The Season 5 schedule is as follows:

EPT Barcelona Open - September 10th - 14th 2008
EPT London - October 1st - 5th 2008
EPT Polish Open - November 15th - 19th 2008
EPT Prague - December 9th - 13th 2008
EPT Deauville - January 20th - 24th 2009
EPT Scandinavian Open - February 17th - 21st 2009
EPT German Open - March 10th - 14th 2009
EPT San Remo - April 18th - 23rd 2009
EPT Grand Final - April 28th - May 3rd 2009
