Erick Lindgren Wins First Ever Bracelet at WSOP

June 5th, 2008

Erick Lindgren has finally won his first WSOP bracelet winning Event 4 of the 2008 World Series of Poker. With 14 WSOP cashes and four final table appearances, one of poker’s ‘nearly’ men finally won the bracelet he has been craving for years at the $5,000 Mixed Hold’em (Limit/No Limit) event.

With a final table including the likes of Howard Lederer and 2004 WSOP main event runner-up David Williams, it was always destined to be a tough day’s play at the Rio Hotel & Casino.

Chip stacks at the start of the final table were as follows:

David Rheem - 885,000
David Williams - 678,500
Justin Bonomo - 517,500
Erick Lindgren - 345,000
Howard Lederer - 324,500
Roland de Wolfe - 194,000
Andrew Robl - 162,000
Isaac Haxton - 115,500
Pat Pezzin - 108,500

First to leave the final table was Isaac Haxton, who couldn’t compete against Lindgren’s pocket queens, with Pat Pezzin next to go. David Williams’ ace wasn’t enough against David Rheem’s pair of tens. Howard Lederer was then eliminated by Justin Bonomo on the river card leaving just five players left.

David Rheem came up short against Roland de Wolfe’s queen high straight, with de Wolfe the next to be eliminated following Bonomo’s flush. With three left to play, it was Andrew Robl who left the stage, leaving Lindgren and Bonomo to play heads-up.

After 40 hands of heads-up, Bonomo went all-in and Lindgren called. Lindgren’s straight was enough to pick up the title and a cheque for $374,505 to go with his deserved first golden bracelet.

Event 4 Final Standings:

Erick Lindgren - $374,505
Justin Bonomo - $230,159
Andrea Robl - $ 144,337
Roland de Wolfe - $117,030
David Rheem - $93,624
Howard Lederer - $74,199
David Williams - $58,515
Pat Pezzin - $46,812
Isaac Haxton - $35,109
