At the $10,000 Seven Card Stud World Championship, Eric Brooks has fought off the challenge of two previous WSOP bracelet winners to win his first ever WSOP event. His victory came in his first major cash event. Brooks has donated his entire winnings to the Decision Education Foundation, a cool $415,856.

At the start of the final table, the chip stacks were as follows:

David Oppenheim - 508,000
Alexander Kostritsyn - 495,000
Fu Wong - 429,000
Minh Ly - 424,000
Jim Paluszek - 413,000
Eric Brooks - 359,000
Erik Seidel - 273,000
Vassilios Lazarou - 259,000

Two-time bracelet winner Vassilios Lazarou was the first to be eliminated, David Oppenheim’s triple deuces holding out. Oppenheim, who has five WSOP cashes to his name, was then out himself, Alexander Kostritsyn’s triple fives doing the damage. 2008 Aussie Millions champion Kostritsyn then knocked out Jim Paluszek, who had also cashed in event 7, with tens and eights, who was then followed by Erik Seidel who missed out on a chance for his eighth WSOP bracelet.

Minh Ly was then eliminated in 4th place with Kostritsyn in 3rd to leave heads-up between Brooks and Fu Wong. Once Eric Brooks took over the chip lead there was no looking back and he finally claimed victory with a diamond flush.

Eric Brooks made it through a total of 158 entrants to win the fourteenth event of this year’s World Series of Poker.

Final Standings:

Eric Brooks - $415,856
Fu Wong - $259,910
Alexander Kostritsyn - $163,372
Minh Ly - $118,816
Erik Seidel - $92,825
Jim Paluszek - $74,260
David Oppenheim - $59,408
Vassilios Lazarou - $48,269
