David Singer has won his first WSOP bracelet by claiming victory in Event 3 $1,500 Pot Limit Hold’em Freezeout event. Following lengthy heads-up play with Jacobo Fernandez, David Singer closed out the contest to win the title and a $214,131 payday.

The start of the final table’s play saw David Singer among the lower chip stacks:

Joe Tehan - 458,000
Jacobo Fernandez - 428,000
Robert Lipkin - 305,000
Al Barbieri - 271,000
Russ Harriman - 206,000
Gregory Alston - 179,000
Zachary King - 139,000
David Singer - 83,000
Glen Bean - 75,000

After a slow start to play, Glen Bean got all his chips in against Zachary King but was unfortunate to lose on an ace turned on the river. Al Barbieri was next to be eliminated, falling short against Singer’s pair of aces.

Zachary King was next to go all-in against Greg Alston’s pocket aces. The aces once again proved their value and held on to win the hand. Joe Tehan, chip leader at the start of the day, was next to go, Singer again doing the damage with a pair of nines. A few hands later Russ Harriman got himself all-in but couldn’t beat Greg Alston’s pair of aces.

With four players left, Robert Lipkin couldn’t keep up with the pace and was sent out by Singer’s pocket jacks. Greg Alston’s pair of jacks wasn’t enough to beat Jacobo Fernandez’s triple eights which left heads-up between Singer and Fernandez.

With the chip lead switching from side to side, the event eventually came down to two hands. First, Singer’s two pairs of aces and kings won a big pot off Fernandez’s pair of fives. Then, in the very next hand, Singer’s straight brought him victory and the elusive golden bracelet, after two previous WSOP final tables.

Event 3 Final Standings:

David Singer - $214,131
Jacobo Fernandez - $136,643
Greg Alston - $82,725
Robert Lipkin - $67,640
Russ Harriman - $55,474
Joe Tehan - $43,796
Zachary King - $34,063
Al Barbieri - $26,764
Glen Bean - $ 19,464
