David Daneshgar Wins 2008 WSOP Event 52
July 3rd, 2008
David Daneshgar has won his first WSOP bracelet taking the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Event #52. Coming out on top of 2,693 total entrants, David Daneshgar takes home $625,443 in prize money as well as one of the few remaining bracelets available in this year’s WSOP.
As the players lined up at the final table to commence play, it was Matt Matros with the chip lead, slightly ahead of Jeff Courtney:
Seat 1 - Dan Heimiller - 544,000
Seat 2 - Matt Matros - 1,472,000
Seat 3 - Farzad Rouhani - 212,000
Seat 4 - Andrey Zaichenko - 521,000
Seat 5 - Scott Sitron - 504,000
Seat 6 - Voitto Rintala - 553,000
Seat 7 - Jeff Courtney - 1,443,000
Seat 8 - David Daneshgar - 1,178,000
Seat 9 - Corwin Cole - 1,668,000
It didn’t take long for the first elimination to take place, Voitto Rintala moving all-in with triple fives showing on the flop. Unfortunately for him his pocket sixes counted for nothing against Farzad Rouhani’s hidden five giving him quad fives. Next to go was Jeff Courtney, Rouhani again doing the damage with a pair of queens against Courtney’s jacks.
Andrey Zaichenko was then bested by Scott Sitron’s triple kings, with Matt Matros following soon after having hit Corwin Cole’s flush draw. Cole himself was then eliminated on Sitron’s pair of aces, and next hand Sitron got rid of Rouhani. With just three players left standing, Sitron saw off Dan Heimiller with jacks and tens leaving heads-up play between Daneshgar and Sitron.
An even contest was finally decided when Sitron moved all-in on A 8. Daneshgar called with pocket tens which held up to give him the victory. Scott Sitron takes home $385,974 as consolation for missing out on the WSOP bracelet.
