June 26th, 2008
Dan Lacourse has won his first ever WSOP bracelet at the $1,000 Seniors No Limit Hold’em World Championship Event #42. Over a total field of 2,218 players, Dan Lacourse’s victory gives him $368,832 in prize winnings and his first golden bracelet.
The start of the day saw nine players lining up at the final table, with Dale Eberle the chip leader from Dan Lacourse:
Seat 1 - Marc Fluss - 873,000
Seat 2 - Charles Wood - 531,000
Seat 3 - Ed Clark - 504,000
Seat 4 - Martin Wilson - 454,000
Seat 5 - Peter Silverstein - 435,000
Seat 6 - Dale Eberle - 1,414,000
Seat 7 - Fred Berger - 518,000
Seat 8 - Dan Lacourse - 1,364,000
Seat 9 - Jerry Yamachika - 558,000
The first player to be eliminated was Martin Wilson, who came up short against Fred Berger’s triple queens. Ed Clark then bested Marc Fluss with ace high, before Peter Silverstein was sent out by Lacourse’s straight on the river. Charles Wood was then eliminated by Fluss, quickly followed by Fred Berger, the only member of the final table to have a WSOP bracelet, at the hands of Lacourse.
With four players remaining Jerry Yamachika was next to go, Lacourse’s pair of queens doing the damage. Lacourse then saw off Marc Fluss with a straight on the river to leave heads-up play between Eberle and Lacourse.
Lacourse had control with a big 4:1 chip lead and it didn’t take long to get Dale Eberle all-in. With triple nines Lacourse had too much for Eberle and took the title and the $368,832 first place prize.
