Top professional poker players from all over the world are gearing themselves up for the start of the Asian Poker Tour later this month. With over 400 players expected to enter the event, of which a third are expected to be locally based, three players looking to make a significant impact on the tournament are Korean-born Steve Sung, Vietnam-native Quinn Do and Vietnamese-American Nam Le.

Steve Sung has been a regular in major live tournaments for several years since turning pro. Yet to win a major tournament title, he has cashed out in several WPT and WSOP events, his best finish being 2nd place in the recent 2008 WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Championship. Before playing at live tournaments, Sung had been an avid online poker player under the nickname ‘MuGGyLiCiOuS’. His total career poker winnings amount to over $1.4 million.

Quinn Do decided to play poker full time in 2004 after completing his studies at the University of Washington and following a brief stint in the restaurant business. Since turning pro, Mr. Do has been a regular at major live poker events and won a WSOP Gold Bracelet at the 2005 WSOP Limit Hold’em Event. Other notable finishes include 2nd place at the Bellagio Challenge Cup Championship in 2005, and most recently 2nd place at the 2008 WPT LA Poker Classic Championship where he took home just under $1 million. Quinn Do’s total poker winnings to date are close to $2 million.

Nam Le, only twenty-five years old, is already considered by many to be a major threat at live tournaments, with a number of first place finishes already under his belt - the 2006 Bay 101 Shooting Star WPT Championship and the 2006 Scotty Nguyen Poker Challenge II, as well top place finishes in several WSOP and WPT events. His most recent finish was 4th at the 2008 WPT LA Poker Classic Championship where he earned $411,770. Mr. Le’s total winnings to date exceed $4.3 million.

The Philippines leg of the Asian Poker Tour commences on May 27th at the Dusit Thani Manila Hotel. The $2,500 buy-in event promises to be the biggest poker tournament ever played in Manila. Over 6 six days of play, poker professionals and internet qualifiers from all over the world will be fighting for the chance to take home a share of the guaranteed $1 million prize pool.

The Asian Poker Tour then moves onto Macau in August, Seoul in October, and Singapore in December.
