2008 WSOP $1,500 Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 or Better Event 6 Day 1

Event 6 of the 2008 WSOP got under way yesterday afternoon, marking the first Omaha event so far in the series. Expected among the crowd of poker enthusiasts for the $1,500 Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 or Better event is last year’s champion, Russia’s Alex Kravchenko who took home the title and a $228,446 payday to go along with the WSOP golden bracelet.
With a big crowd of 833 entrants taking to the tables for Day 1 play, there were a host of popular poker names in the room. Some of those at the tables included Bryan Devonshire, Shannon Elizabeth, Marcel Luske, Amir Vahedi, Robert Mizrachi, Chad Brown, and Berry Johnston.
The top 81 players will cash out in this event, with the winner walking away with a cool $243,036 to go with a WSOP bracelet. Among those who wouldn’t make it through to Day 2 included Scotty Nguyen, Chad Brown, Erik Seidel, Phil Ivey, Jim Meehan, Shannon Elizabeth, and Katja Thater.
205 players made it through to Day 2 with James Van Alstyne top of the tree.
